Repost: Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation debuts at startup-focused 4YFN

This article was originally published on telecompaper, You can view the original here. The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has made its debut at 4 Years From Now (4YFN), the startup-focused platform held alongside Mobile World Congress, highlighting Hong Kong’s growing ambitions to bring its technology ecosystem onto the global stage. HKSTP continues to strengthen its collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) to support Hong Kong technology companies in expanding internationally. Through the joint organisation of the Hong Kong Tech Pavilion, the partnership creates opportunities for local innovators to connect with investors, partners, and markets from around the world. The initiative is designed to accelerate the globalisation of Hong Kong’s innovation and technology sector while responding to the rising worldwide demand for advanced technology solutions. By fostering international exposure, the programme helps attract global talent, encourage forward-looking investment, and enable startups and entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities across borders. These efforts aim to empower Hong Kong’s technology enterprises to scale internationally while further strengthening the city’s position as a leading global hub for innovation and technology. Following a successful presence at last year’s Mobile World Congress, HKSTP returned to the event this year with an expanded role, marking its first participation in the dedicated startup platform 4YFN. Telecompaper also attended Mobile World Congress, taking a particular interest in the 4YFN programme, where the publication spoke with a range of emerging innovators and startup founders showcasing new technologies and business ideas. Vista Innotech showcases next-generation camera stabilisation technology Ada Sun, COO (right) and Edward Mak, CEO (left) at Vista Innotech. Vista Innotech (VIT) is developing advanced camera stabilisation technologies designed to significantly improve image quality in mobile and portable devices. At the company’s busy exhibition stand, visitors gather to see live demonstrations of its optical image stabilisation solutions. The interest is easy to understand: the difference between a shaky handheld video and the steady, crystal-clear image produced by VIT’s technology is immediately visible. “We are proud to have developed a full range of OIS technologies, including our Micro Gimbal Stabilizer (MGS), periscope OIS modules and dedicated OIS software,” says Ada Sun, COO of Vista Innotech. “Our MGS and periscope OIS camera modules are extremely compact and can be embedded in most mobile devices, including smartphones. Even under low-light or shaky conditions, our technology can improve image sharpness.” During the demonstrations, the company shows how a typical handheld camera produces visible motion blur when the user’s hand moves. With the Micro Gimbal Stabilizer activated, however, the same scene appears stable and sharply focused, even while the device is moving. When asked why this innovation matters, Ada Sun responds with a smile: “Simply because you cannot take every photo twice.” While smartphones remain an important application, the technology is also designed for a wide range of other devices, including car cameras, drones, sports cameras and other portable imaging systems. Because the stabiliser is exceptionally small, it can be integrated into compact devices without compromising design or performance. Vista Innotech’s Micro Gimbal Stabilizer introduces a new stabilisation approach in which both the image sensor and the lens tilt simultaneously. This dual-axis movement significantly improves stability compared with traditional optical or electronic image stabilisation methods. “This innovation ensures sharp and clear images, even in low-light environments or under vibration,” Sun explains. “In addition, we provide a complete solution that includes advanced mechanical design and control software, while also supporting large-scale commercial production.” The company has already filed 120+ patents and got 30+ international awards, like CES 2025 Innovation Awards.

Vista Innotech discusses its MSG technology ——STARTUPS MAGAZINE

Links:https://startupsmagazine.co.uk/article-vista-innotech-discusses-its-msg-technology At CES this year Vista Innotech was the recipient of the Innovation Award 2025 in the imaging category for its three-axis micro gimbal stabilizer (MSG), a landmark moment for the company that not only validated its MSG technology but also reflected the hard work and efforts of a relatively small team working out of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks. Visa Innotech was founded in recognition of the understanding that the number of mobile devices would increase and continue to utilize camera modules to capture images – a prescient understanding of the market that has served the company well in its seven-year history. According to findings from Statista, smartphone shipments total led over one billion units in 2023. Vista Innotech’s MSG technology works to counteract any shaking that might occur in smartphone devices while capturing images, but also in other products like wearables and body cameras, demonstrating its widespread applicability. “It works like a traditional gimbal, and will drive the lens and image sensor together in the opposite direction of the vibration,” explained Dr. Edward Mak, CEO and Founder of the company, in an exclusive interview with Startups Magazine. An attractive feature of its MSG technology is in its size, which allows it to be embedded into compact devices with a small form factor. Imagine, for example, a small body camera that needs to be fitted to a security guard to maintain discretion. This is where Vista Innotech’s technology best suits. According to Mak: “I think it’s the smallest gimbal in the world … compared with our competitors, our micro gimbal stabilizer is at least 30% smaller.” The three-axis micro gimbal stabilizer, which won the award, has a patented motor structure with only four ball bearings, a significant reduction from the industry standard of 12 ball bearings. “This is a breakthrough,” Mak stressed, “because with our patented structure, we only need four balls and one motor … that’s why we can make it very small.” Its MSG technology is integrated with its patented FPC design, which transfers image sensor signals from the image sensor in the MGS rotor to the stator. By being designed in a double L shape, the stabilizer has greater freedom to move in confined spaces and reinforces the company’s commitment to offering compact solutions by not occupying space outside of the MGS motor. In talking about the award, Mak said: “Our competitors are very strong, and in the imaging category there were a lot of major players like GoPro, Samsung, and LG. We’re happy that we were recognized in the same category as them.” The CES Innovation Award isn’t the only accolade the company has gained, as it counts the 2024 Inventions Geneva Evaluation Days Silver Medal, 2023 Hong Kong and Macao Youth Innovation and Startup First Prize and the 2022 Winner of ‘MAKER IN CHINA’ Global Contest Final Championship among the prizes it has been awarded, recognizing the value and relevance of its technology today. From smartphones to consumer wearables and drones, Vista Innotech’s MSG technology represents an innovation backed by engineering to resolve shaking issues in capturing images, with widespread applications set to benefit a wide range of sectors.
